Classroom Design & Delivery Follow Up, Maine 3/5 – 3/6/12

Event: CDD training follow up visits at Sanford, Maine.

Dates: March 5 – 6, 2012.

This visit supports staff in practical and successful implementation of the tools and strategies gained from the Pre-requisite Trainings.  Administrators and Teachers will have the opportunity for RISC trainers to observe their schools and classes where they can speak with staff and students about the implementation of the tools and strategies used, and then debrief with administrators and teachers discussing strengths, and next steps.  RISC uses a coaching model that provides support and encouragement so that staff can be validated and redirected where needed.

Owning The Learning, Maine 3/9/12

Event: Owning The Learning training in Sanford, Maine.

Date: March 9, 2012.

This training provides an awareness of the RISC approach to learning; where the entire educational system is organized around engaging student in 21st century skills, in a learner-centered environment, working at their instructional levels advancing only when they have demonstrated proficiency.

Classroom Design and Delivery, Maine 4/2 – 4/4/12

Event: Classroom Design & Delivery training at RSU 57 in Maine.

Dates:  March 2, 2012 (scheduled make-up day), March 3 – 4, 2012.

This training will focus on the first implementation of tools to engage all students in the ownership of their learning. Teachers will learn to build collegial support around problem solving in an effort to implement a learner-centered culture, create procedural efficiency, and develop transparency so students can navigate their learning. The training will also build skills of balanced instruction to include direct, analytical, contextual instruction and incorporating student voice and choice.

District and School Design & Delivery, Maine 4/5 – 4/6/12

Event: District and School Design & Delivery training at RSU 3 in Maine.

Dates: April 5 – 6, 2012.

This training will focus on understanding the key characteristics of designing and deploying a school that embraces a personalized mastery philosophy.  Leaders will use tools for specific purposes that allow students and staff to drive the classroom and school structure, environment, and learning process.

Instructional Design and Delivery, Maine 5/8 – 5/10/12

Event: Instructional Design & Delivery training at RSU 57 in Maine.

Dates: May 8 – 10, 2012.

This training takes teachers to the next level of the RISC Framework, as tools and instructional strategies leading toward the implementation of a standards-driven, student-centered classroom are explored and practiced.  With a deeper understanding of a standards-based system, teachers will unpack standards, create aligned assessments and develop lesson/unit plans that engage students in personalized mastery.  The need for, and reality of, systemic change becomes transparent in its delivery.
