The RISC staff is available to work with teachers, schools, and entire districts to assist in any aspect of understanding and transitioning to the RISC approach. Here is a sampling of our consultation and training services:

Keynote about the RISC Framework & Philosophy
What we  do: Provide an overview of the RISC framework and philosophy for all stakeholders. This keynote includes highlights of our historical journey as well as thought-provoking questions and interactions to help stakeholders determine if your system delivers on the promise to guarantee every child a quality education.
Length: 90 minutes to one day

Training in Understanding the RISC Approach to Schooling
What we do: Provide an overview and introduction to the RISC framework and philosophy for teachers and administrators. This cornerstone training lays the foundation for a transition to the RISC approach and includes instruction on tools and strategies that can be used immediately to begin the change process.
Length: Three days

Facilitation of the Process of Developing a Shared Vision
What we do: Work with staff, students, and the community to facilitate the process of developing a shared vision for a school or district. Includes synthesizing input from all stakeholders into school-wide or district-wide goals.
Length: One to three days

Administrator Training
W
hat we do: Work with administrators to build their understanding of the RISC Model and how to support and deploy it throughout their organization.
Length: One to three days

Educator Training
What we do: Train teachers in the use of tools to engage students in improving the school system. Show teachers how to facilitate student input about their own individual learning process. This training includes helping teachers learn how to engage students in creating a shared code of conduct and classroom procedures and how to teach students to assess their own conduct. The Beacon Teacher Training is one of the necessary steps for a school system to become a lighthouse to other schools and districts that are in earlier steps of RISC implementation.
Length: Five days

Standards-Based Instructional Training
What we do: Provide teachers with planning tools and instructional methods for standards-based education. Provide instruction to teachers about planning and teaching lessons and units in a standards-based system.
Length: Three days

Assistance in Using Standards-Based Reporting Software
What we do: Facilitate the implementation of a software program to track student progress, attendance, scheduling, and assignments. RISC recommends Educate software, a product of the 3Shapes company.
Length: One to two days

Guide Training
What we do: Train educators to become leaders of the RISC effort, including strengthening their ability to communicate the RISC philosophy and framework to others. This training is for teachers and administrators who want be advocates of the RISC approach.
Length: Three days

On-Site Needs Assessment and Feedback
What we do: Evaluate a school or school district based on the RISC Organizational Self-Assessment Tool (OSAT), providing written and verbal feedback about how the organization is doing and how to move forward using the RISC Approach to Schooling. Interview teachers, administrators, and students in order to determine how the school or district is performing in the four components of the RISC approach: Shared Vision, Standards-Based Design, Leadership, and Continuous Improvement. This assessment occurs at multiple stages throughout the transition to the RISC framework.
Length: Two days to two weeks, depending on the size of the school or district
